1954 Allard Palm Beach SOLD
Introduced in 1952 the alloy bodied Palm Beach was Sydney Allard’s final sports car design, and differed from his previous models in that it employed a 4 or 6 cylinder Ford engine rather than an American V8. Approximately 80 were built in total, with a large proportion being shipped to the USA.
This lovely example was delivered new to its first owner in New Zealand in 1954, and resided there until being brought back to the UK by its current owner in 2011. It has since benefitted from a great deal of care and expenditure, resulting in car which is both great to look at and very exhilarating to drive.
The Allard’s impressive specification now includes:
• Freshly rebuilt enlarged 2.6 litre engine with a gas flowed head, uprated cam, high compression pistons and triple SUs
• Ford 4 speed gearbox
• Larger capacity radiator and fan
• Free flow exhaust and manifold
• New propshaft
• New brakes throughout
• Restored chassis
• Bare metalled and repainted silver bodywork
• Renewed electrics
• Aero screens
• Beautifully retrimmed interior
• 15” wire wheels
The original 2.3 litre engine, 3 speed gearbox and 13” wheels are available with the car if required.
Complete with a comprehensive history file including a copy of the original factory record card and detailed ownership records and photos from NZ. 40,000 miles recorded and could easily be correct given the length of time the vehicle was in store over there.
A very rare car and a joy to drive.
Price on application, with part exchanges considered.
